I continue to make progress, albeit slow, on my maple leaf quilt. This one is so time-consuming due to the piecing involved in each block. So far, I've made five of each of the colors of blocks shown in the below photo:
I have no idea how many blocks that is, because I've never been great at math (yes, I am an accountant). But its a lot, trust me. I have two more colors to complete on the small blocks before I move onto a third type of block in this quilt.
Sewing is really such a calming activity for me. I've been working on my quilt in the evenings while Bonnie pulls up a chair and reads to me. She has a little beanbag that she sit on in my sewing room, and she makes herself comfortable in the evenings while I sew. Its a nice after-dinner activity, and a calm way for her to get through one of her more challenging activities - reading.
We've started this new evening ritual where she reads to me, and then I read to her a chapter from the Chronicles of Narnia series. Its working out well for us.
I've been eyeing a few dresses for little Bonnie that just came out, so its good motivation for me to finish this crazy thing up. I can't wait for the spring dresses! I love to make little girls' dresses, and the fabrics for spring are always so incredibly cute.
I will miss it when my kids are older and they won't want me to sew clothes for them anymore. But, in that case, they'll get a quilt or something.
Because, you know, Mom has to feed her fabric addiction somehow.

your quilt is going to look really good, i don't have the patience for that kind of piecing! ps how is she liking the Narnia books?
Jamie, she loves them! She says they are freaky, and they kind of are, but she's always asking to hear more.
Did Linda and Rory give you a set of these books? They gave me a set when I was a teenager, so that's where I got the idea.
That is good, i think they are a good series! I never read them as a kid. But i bought them as a book on tape set on itunes, it was to good of a deal to pass up for my trips at christmas time. I'm excited she is liking them. I remember reading judy bloom books and the boxcar children series.
